Intel Expands R&D Teams in Russia

Intel's research and development team in Russia has had a growth spurt in recent months. The purchase by Intel of two Russian technology companies, Elbrus and UniPro, has increased the number of Intel researchers in Russia from 900 to 1,550 engineers and staff.

Elbrus MCST was rumored to design E2K CPU, which was supposed to compete with Intel. I always had doubts that they'd ever succeed. It looked so much familiar to what was happening in USSR: a lot of publicty and no results.
