Against the backdrop of clouding relations between the United States and Russia, former President George H.W. Bush, chairman of the center, presented the 20th annual award to Gorbachev for his role in ending the Cold War and bringing democracy to the formerly communist Soviet Union.
By his countrymen Gorbachev is regarded as the man who destroyed his country. He was very successful in that. I think that he was a clueless idiot. He had no idea what he was doing, a former Soviet lawyer with no knowledge of economy.
What's funny is that while Mr Bush is honoring Gorbachev for ending war, his son - W - did everything he can to start a new Cold War and laid foundations for more wars ahead. For every idiot who stops a war, there's be another to re-start it, I guess.
