This is a very sarcastic article on Sarah Palin's meetings with "world leaders" in NY. Apparently, she never met a head of a state before. I'll skip this theme, and will instead point out to who she met. I think that's it's not a coincidence that it was Hamid Karzai. His puppet government hangs on American support. I'm sure he know what happened to another recent puppet government of Mohammad Najibullah, who was "beaten, castrated and brutally murdered" by Taleban forces.
It's a very sad story. The guy was supported by Soviets, then Mr Gorbachev decided that Afghanistan wasn't worth fighting for and Red Army withdrew from the place. They were fighting a proxy war with the West, through Pakistani and American supported mujaheddin rebels. Once Soviets were gone, Taleban quite quickly took power. Najbullah was the last president of Afghanistan before Taleban, who became a head of state during Soviet times. Karzai should know that if Americans leave Afghanistan, he'll have to run. Run fast. So, he'll meet anybody to prolong his days in the office, imho.
